Director's Statement
"Burning Red" is a story that delves into the depths of love, loss, and the supernatural. It's a tale that explores the unbreakable bond between two lovers, Victoria and Kennedy, and the devastating consequences that unfold when fate intervenes.
I aimed to capture the raw emotions of longing, regret, and the undying power of love. Victoria, after years of yearning for her true love's return, seizes a chance to reunite with Kennedy, driven by a pact they made in the throes of their passionate romance. However, what transpires takes an unexpected turn, as Victoria's reunion with Kennedy ends tragically. From the ashes of despair, Victoria returns from the realm of the dead, fueled by a longing that transcends mortality. As a vengeful spirit, she haunts her old love, her presence a chilling reminder of the unfulfilled promises and shattered dreams. Through this supernatural lens, we delve into themes of guilt, remorse, and the torment that arises when the past comes back to haunt us.
"Burning Red" is a testament to the indomitable nature of love and the eternal ties that bind us, even in the face of death, where the echoes of lost love reverberate through the shadows, reminding us of the haunting power of unfinished stories.
In crafting this film, I embarked on a thrilling journey of experimentation, delving into the realms of style, production design, and the chilling genre of horror. At that moment, as a director with a background in acting, I was earnestly honing my directorial voice while embracing the continuous learning process. Notably, this project marked a significant milestone as it introduced me to the talented fellow actress, Michelle Gary, an alumna of the esteemed American Academy of Dramatic Arts, where I had also studied acting. Our collaboration sparked the beginning of a profound director-actress relationship.
