Producer's Statement
A shared love of style and fashion brought Zaha and I together during film school. We’re both true fashionista’s with a pure love for fashion.
I still remember Zaha sneaking into my Thesis Class just to catch a glimpse of my Victorian styled film, Daughter Replica, during a session with my incredible professors Anne Carey (Producer of Night Bitch) and Rebecca Eskreis (Producer of the Academy Award–nominated short film A LIEN). This was the unspoken beginning of our partnership as there was a genuine admiration for each other right from the start. So when she asked me to co-produce her thesis film, KORE, inspired by Persephone from Greek mythology, I JUMPED IN!
Beyond being an exceptional director, Zaha is an incredible cinematographer. The way she reimagined this ancient myth and created a balance between fantasy and realism shows true craftsmanship of the art.
KORE is the kind of film that awakens my spirit. I’m so happy to be part of the film.
